Scott Bakula is 68 and a grandfather now — enjoys life close to nature with wife of 13 years
The man who spent five seasons unstuck in time as Dr. Sam Beckett lives in a house where trees press against the windows. He married Chelsea Field in 2009 after 15 years of dating, then the wedding. They met on set — she played his love interest on "NCIS: New Orleans." His wife posts photos sometimes. Their place is actually in a forest, not near one.
The Contract Clause Nobody Talks About
Bakula had cut-off times written into his contracts. Hard stops for his kids' soccer games and baseball practice. This was the '90s and 2000s, when "work-life balance" meant you worked and saw your family if the shoot wrapped early.
He coached the teams himself.

What 68 Looks Like When You Mean It
Most actors his age are chasing the next franchise role or doing prestige TV. Bakula's doing neither. He wrapped "NCIS: New Orleans" in 2021 and hasn't announced anything major since.
Just the house, the wife, the woods, the grandkid.
It's not a retirement announcement. He's not making proclamations about "stepping back" or "focusing on family" like it's a press release. He's just not around. Based on Field's Instagram — the hiking photos, the porch shots, the baby pictures — he's fine with that.
The reboot buzz keeps circling back to him. Fans want Sam Beckett to show up, even for a cameo. So far: nothing. Maybe he already made his leap home.
