Amber Marshall is literally Amy Fleming in real life and I am obsessed

I have spent years watching Heartland and wondering if Amber Marshall is actually anything like Amy Fleming. After seeing how she spends her real days, I can tell you she is the real deal. It makes me love the show even more knowing she is not just playing a part. She is out there in the Alberta mud before most of us even have our coffee.

Her mornings start with a rooster and a feed pail. She has these chickens that lay the coolest eggs, like deep chocolate browns and soft greens. She talks to them like they are her best friends, which is so something Amy would do. It is not just for show either. She is actually out there scrubbing the duck pond and getting splashed by her ducks, Butter and Popcorn. It is messy and loud and she clearly loves every second of it.

Then she has the bigger animals. She has this Jersey cow named Ella and a bull named Rowdy. She even took in a Highland calf that needed a home. She says animals are often kinder than people, and honestly, I felt that.

It is wild to think she does all this chores and then heads to the set. She swaps her work boots for Amy’s wardrobe and spends hours under the lights. She mentioned that those dinner scenes we see on TV take forever. They have to pretend the soup is hot for three hours while they film every different angle. I never realized how much work goes into a single meal scene.

When she gets home, she is right back at it. She rides her horse, Cruise, to clear her head. She even has these mini horses, Screech and Talon, that she lets run around for exercise. It is like her life and the show just blend together into one big story.

She said something that really stuck with me. She admits that some days she doesn't know where she ends and Amy starts. I think that is why Heartland feels so special to us. It is not just a script.
