Bruce Springsteen Called Trump "Treasonous" Onstage—Then Trump Dragged Taylor Swift Into It

Springsteen Spoke. Trump Lashed Out. And the Music World Responded.

Bruce Springsteen has never been one to stay quiet during political turmoil—and his May 2025 concert in Manchester proved it once again.

In a now-viral moment, The Boss paused his show to deliver a pointed, emotional speech calling the Trump administration “corrupt, incompetent, and treasonous.” He spoke directly about the rollback of civil rights, attacks on American workers, and what he described as “sadistic pleasure” taken by the rich at the expense of the public.

“I love the America I write about,” he said. “But right now, it’s being stripped of its soul.”

The full speech—raw, passionate, and clear—was later uploaded to both his website and YouTube.

Trump’s Online Meltdown: “Pushy, Obnoxious JERK”

It didn’t take long for former President Donald Trump to fire back.

Posting on Truth Social, Trump unloaded on Springsteen:

“Highly Overrated Bruce Springsteen goes to a Foreign Country to speak badly about the President of the United States... Just a pushy, obnoxious JERK.”

But he didn’t stop there.

Trump dragged Taylor Swift into the fray—despite her not being involved in the speech or event—repeating his past grievances and even throwing in a jab about her appearance, writing she was “no longer hot.”

That move shocked many, sparking fresh outrage online.

Musicians Union Steps In: “We Stand With Bruce and Taylor”

In a rare public response, the American Federation of Musicians issued a statement defending both Springsteen and Swift, saying:

“We stand in unwavering solidarity with Bruce Springsteen and Taylor Swift. These artists have used their voices to speak truth, challenge injustice, and inspire millions. They are role models—whether or not the powerful agree.”

The union’s support hit a nerve with music fans and working artists alike, many of whom began reposting clips from Springsteen’s speech with messages of solidarity and hashtags like #LetFreedomSing and #WeStandWithYou.

Why Taylor Swift’s Name Keeps Coming Up

Though Swift had no involvement in Springsteen’s concert or speech, her name keeps resurfacing in political circles.

Over the past few years, she’s become increasingly outspoken about voting rights, LGBTQ+ support, and reproductive freedom—making her a regular target for right-wing figures, including Trump.

Her silence on this latest episode hasn’t dulled the discussion. If anything, it’s made the public more aware of how often female artists are dragged into political fights they never signed up for.

A Moment That Says More Than a Song Ever Could

There was no duet. No planned stage moment. But Springsteen’s words, and the backlash that followed, struck a chord far beyond the arena.

This wasn’t about a setlist—it was about speech, silence, and the strange way public figures become symbols in the culture wars.

In the end, one thing became clear: some performances don’t require music to make an impact.
