Why All Three ‘NCIS’ Shows Are Off the Air — and When They’re Coming Back

Viewers tuning in for new episodes of the NCIS franchise may have noticed an unexpected pause across the board.

The original series, along with NCIS: Origins and NCIS: Sydney, are currently on a scheduled winter hiatus.

While the break may feel lengthy, it follows a long-standing broadcast pattern. Networks routinely pause scripted programming around the Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year holiday period. This allows networks to preserve fresh episodes for later in the season, when viewership typically stabilizes.

This year, CBS extended its winter hiatus window into January, meaning no new episodes of the three NCIS shows will air for several weeks.

So when will new episodes return?

All three NCIS series are scheduled to resume with new episodes on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, following their fall finale breaks.

Until then, reruns and streaming options will continue to fill the gap as the franchise prepares to roll out the next phase of its 2025–2026 season.
