CBS Sets Premiere Date for ‘Y: Marshals’ as Yellowstone Universe Keeps Expanding

CBS has officially put a date on the next major Yellowstone chapter.
Luke Grimes as Kayce Dutton in the Yellowstone spinoff Y: Marshals

‘Y: Marshals,’ the spinoff led by Luke Grimes reprising his role as Kayce Dutton, is scheduled to premiere Sunday, March 1, 2026 at 8/7c on CBS, with episodes also available via Paramount+.

The new series shifts Kayce away from day-to-day ranch life and into law enforcement. According to show descriptions reported by TV Guide, Kayce joins an elite unit of U.S. Marshals in Montana, leaning on his background as a cowboy and former Navy SEAL while balancing the job’s pressure with family responsibilities.

CBS has already started ramping up promotion. A first-look trailer was released in late November 2025, and Grimes acknowledged the announcement on social media following the rollout of the premiere details.

Familiar faces expected alongside Kayce

While Y: Marshals is built around Kayce, it won’t be a full reset. Reporting around the series has pointed to additional Yellowstone universe familiar faces appearing, alongside a wave of newcomers joining the cast.

People, in a recent feature tied to the spinoff, also emphasized that the show aims to reveal a “different side” of Kayce — more mission-driven and action-focused than his ranch-centered storylines in Yellowstone.

Meanwhile, Beth and Rip’s next series adds major names

Kayce’s spinoff isn’t the only project moving forward.

The Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler follow-up series (widely reported under the title ‘The Dutton Ranch’) has been steadily stacking notable cast additions. Ed Harris has been cast in the series, according to Variety and Deadline.

Esquire has also reported that the spinoff is bringing in Annette Bening, framing the move as a sign the series is positioning itself as more than a small continuation.

‘The Madison’ quietly moves ahead — fast

Another Yellowstone-universe entry, ‘The Madison,’ has also generated headlines for its pace behind the scenes.

PopCulture.com reported that the Michelle Pfeiffer–led series wrapped filming on Season 2 before Season 1 has even received a premiere date — an unusual production milestone that signals strong momentum internally.
A regional outlet, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, also reported Season 2 wrapping in North Texas.

What this means for Yellowstone fans

After the flagship series’ finale in December 2024, the franchise strategy has become clearer: rather than trying to force a traditional continuation of the original show, Paramount’s Yellowstone world is continuing through multiple lanes — character-driven spinoffs (Kayce) and follow-ups centered on established fan favorites (Beth and Rip), alongside new universe stories (The Madison).

For viewers, the next firm “circle it on the calendar” date is now Y: Marshals on March 1.
