Amber Marshall Lives The Ranch Life For Real - Heartland Truth

If you think Amber Marshall just plays a ranch girl on TV, you haven't seen her mornings.
For 18 seasons, we've watched her as Amy Fleming on Heartland — the calm voice, the soft light, the perfect bond with a horse. But the woman behind the hat will be the first to tell you, the real version is a lot less polished. And a lot more real.
It's louder. It smells like hay and horses. And it starts way before call time.
The 5 A.M. Double Life
After more than a decade playing Amy, Amber isn't really acting anymore. She's living two versions of the same life.
While fans are still crying over last night's episode, Amber is already up. It's 5 a.m. in High River, Alberta. She splashes cold water on her face, pulls on work clothes — no hair and makeup team waiting — and heads out into the freezing cold.
Before she ever looks at a script, there's a routine. Check the cows. Check the alpacas. Feed the rabbits. Make sure everyone made it through the night. That's the job that doesn't make it to TV.

The Real Boss on Set Isn't Who You Think
We all love Spartan. But as Amber has said many times, horses don't read the call sheet.
The horse who plays Spartan, Stormy, has been by her side for 14 years. That's not TV magic. That's 14 years of early mornings, repetition, trust, and a horse who simply does not care about your production schedule.
If he doesn't want to hit his mark, the cameras wait. And that, Amber says, is what makes the show honest. You can't fake it with a horse. You have to stop acting and actually react. It's messy, it's unpredictable, and that's why it works.
It's the same with the kids. When the Spencer twins joined the cast as little Lyndy, everything changed. Amber has joked that working with toddlers and animals is like being in an improv class you never signed up for. They pull you off script. They keep you present. You can't be a diva when a two-year-old or a 1,200-pound horse is running the scene.
Home Is a Sanctuary, Not a Set
Off-camera, Amber and her husband Shawn Turner have built something that looks nothing like Hollywood.
It's not about a perfect Instagram aesthetic. It's about coming home after a 12-hour day on set to four cows, three cats, and the quiet of their ranch.
While other actors are checking their mentions, Amber is usually in the barn. Just sitting. Watching the animals.
She's stopped counting seasons. These days, she counts the small moments — the smell of leather in the tack room, the steam from the horses' breath on a cold morning, that heavy silence that falls over the ranch when the crew finally packs up and leaves.
The show gave her a character. The ranch keeps her honest.

Amber Marshall is my favorite actress in the world. I love watching her on heartland or anything else she’s in the nurse at my doctors office told me about heartland years ago. My wife and I decided to watch it so we started watching it and our daughter with us watched it with us and we fell in love with heartland and Amber, Marshall, and the cast we just watched season 19 waiting on season 20 but the rumor is Amber won’t be back on heartland. It breaks my heart and I know it breaks millions of people‘s hearts that they won’t be able to see her own heartland anymore, but we hope to see her in other things, movies, and specials singing, and all that she does can’t hardly wait Amber. We love you very much my wife and I and our daughter, I’ve told you this before we’ve got a big old king size my wife and I and our daughter get in it every night and we watch heartland over and over again through the years we watched over and over again God bless you

AMBER, is a real down to earth person. She’s definitely a person that stays in touch with nature and all the animals around her. I’m sure her go ahead time comes when she’s home on the ranch the way she can interact with their own animals and enjoy every second of it.

I think Amber Marshall loves playing Amy Fleming, but she loves being her self, even more.
