Amber Marshall’s Rustic Ranch Wedding Was Pure Heartland

This is the kind of love story only a real ranch girl could write—horses, homemade vows, and a wild Alberta sky.
Amber Marshall’s Ranch Wedding Was SO Heartland

Heartland fans love a good love story, but this one still gets me every time — because it didn’t happen on a soundstage.

Years before Amy Fleming ever walked down the aisle, Amber Marshall quietly had her own wedding. And honestly? It was the most Heartland thing imaginable.

Amber married photographer Shawn Turner when she was just 25, and instead of some fancy venue or destination resort, they chose the one place that actually felt right — their own ranch near High River, Alberta.

No debate. No backup option. Just home.

They’ve always been homebodies. They met at a horse show. Animals are a huge part of their lives. So getting married on their land wasn’t a statement — it was just… obvious.

What I love most is that they planned the whole thing themselves. No big wedding machine, no pressure. Friends helped. Family helped. And Shawn actually built the altar by hand. Amber later said it became one of her favorite keepsakes from the day, and that tracks. That’s the kind of detail you don’t forget.

The ceremony itself was simple and emotional in the best way.

Amber rode in sidesaddle on her horse Hawk, with her dad walking beside her. She wore a strapless dress, nothing overdone, and carried a lilac bouquet made by her grandmother. About 150 people stood out in the grass under the Alberta sky, watching something that felt big and quiet at the same time.

Even with cameras being such a normal part of her life, Amber said she was overwhelmed with emotion. Not nerves — just joy. The kind that sneaks up on you.

And then came the exit.

After the first kiss, they didn’t walk back down the aisle.

They got on their horses and rode off.

The applause spooked the horses a little, so they took off faster than planned — which somehow made it even better. If that doesn’t feel like something straight out of Heartland, I don’t know what does.

The reception stayed just as grounded. White tents, relaxed vibes, and a very clear dress code from Amber: jeans and boots encouraged. Be comfortable. Dance. Stay a while.

The catering even came from the same crew that feeds the Heartland cast during filming, which feels like a small but perfect crossover between her two worlds.

And yes — her Heartland family was there.

Michelle Morgan and Chris Potter weren’t just guests. They were people who mattered deeply. Amber once said she doesn’t have a sister, but having Michelle there meant everything to her. After years of working together, those relationships were already real.

There were heartfelt speeches, a toast from the cast, and a first dance to “Timing Is Everything.” Which… honestly? Perfect choice.

They didn’t even get to take a proper honeymoon right away because filming started back up and ranch life doesn’t exactly pause. Very on brand.

While Amy Fleming’s love story unfolded on screen, Amber and Shawn were already living theirs — quietly, intentionally, surrounded by people who truly knew them.

No spectacle. No pretending.

Just a ranch, a horse, and the right person beside her.
