The last time fans saw Georgie Fleming-Morris, she was packing for Austria. She had just won one last show on Phoenix, the horse who had been with her since she was a runaway kid hiding in the Heartland loft, and she was leaving again in a few days.

She didn't stay gone long. CBC's Season 20 preview confirms Alisha Newton is back this season, and the episode guide puts Georgie right in the middle of some of its biggest moments.

Quick answer: Yes, Alisha Newton is back as Georgie in Heartland Season 20. Georgie is in the episode guide for Episode 5, "Once Bitten" (November 1), Episode 6, "The Extra Mile" (November 8), and the finale, "A Ride or Die" (November 22).

What Georgie's Season 20 return looks like

Season 20 premiered on October 4, 2026, and runs eight episodes on Sundays on CBC and CBC Gem. Her storylines land in the back half, and the episode guide gives a first look at her story:

  • Episode 5, "Once Bitten" (November 1): Amy helps Georgie forge an unlikely partnership with a former racehorse.
  • Episode 6, "The Extra Mile" (November 8): After Lou's endurance race, Lou and Georgie band together to save Amy's life.
  • Episode 8, "A Ride or Die" (November 22): Jack uncovers the truth about Georgie's sudden return to Heartland.

That last line is the one fans will hang onto. A rider who left for a stable in Austria doesn't just show up again without a reason, and the guide makes clear there's more to it than a visit. The last time Georgie came home, she told everyone she was fine. It wasn't the whole story then either.

In the US, Season 20 starts on UP Faith & Family on November 19.

Season 19: the homecoming that turned into a goodbye

Alisha Newton eturn to Heartland

Georgie's first return came near the end of Season 19, after nearly three years away. When CBC announced the guest spot in November 2025, showrunner Mark Haroun said, "Audiences have watched Georgie grow up on the show, and it is always wonderful to have her back at the Heartland dinner table."

In "Revenge" (November 30, 2025), Peter drove her up to surprise the family. She said she'd entered the Springview Grand Prix nearby. But Lou spotted the missing engagement ring right away, and Georgie admitted she and Quinn were over. It had been her decision, she kept saying, and she was fine.

She wasn't. Her calls to Quinn went to voicemail. At a family picnic she finally admitted she'd known for a while the relationship was fading and hadn't said anything, so he was blindsided. Quinn hadn't just been her fiancé. He'd been her best friend.

Then the Season 19 finale, "Forgiveness" (December 7, 2025), took Phoenix too. He kept knocking rails, and Amy saw the same slowing down she'd seen in Spartan. At the show, Georgie froze at the in-gate. "I lost Quinn. Now, I'm losing Phoenix. Everything's changing," she told Lou in the finale.

Lou reminded her Phoenix had been with her since the day she arrived and would be waiting in the pasture every time she came home. So Georgie rode, and the episode cut to flashbacks of their years together as they cleared the course. They won. Then, on a family trail ride, she told Lou, Peter and Katie that a stable in Austria wanted her, and she was leaving in a few days.

The runaway who became family

Georgie first arrived at the start of Season 6 as a scrappy kid the foster care system had failed. Ty found her hiding in the loft, and it was Phoenix who got through to her first. Lou and Peter took her in, and CBC notes she was officially adopted early in Season 7.

She grew up into a show jumper with Olympic dreams. She left for Florida with Quinn in Season 14 and missed Season 15 entirely. Early in Season 16, a fall at a show left her needing surgery on a fractured back. In the Season 16 finale, Quinn proposed and she took an offer to train in Brussels. After that episode, which aired in February 2023, she was gone until Season 19.

Alisha Newton was 12 when she joined the show, and the cast watched her grow up. The Calgary Herald reports Shaun Johnston still keeps a photo of the two of them in his trailer.

Back where she started

The ranch she's coming home to keeps changing. Amy is raising Lyndy and weighing her future with Nathan. Lou has moved on from being mayor to her next business venture, and you can read what Michelle Morgan has said about playing Lou. But Georgie is back at Heartland, and the family she found there is waiting.

This time, Jack is going to find out why.
