Kevin Costner Welcomes a New "Costner Kid" - A Furry One!

Kevin Costner has a new reason to smile—and it comes with floppy ears and a wagging tail.
The Yellowstone star recently welcomed the newest member of his family: a white Labrador Retriever puppy. Sharing a series of affectionate photos on Instagram, the 69-year-old actor looked every bit the proud new pup parent. In one shot, Costner gently cradles the little dog to his chest. In another, the pup explores the grass, taking in all the new sights and smells.
“Newest addition to the family,” Costner captioned the post. “I’m already in love with this special guy.”
Fans Are Obsessed—And Full of Name Ideas
Costner’s post quickly drew hundreds of warm comments, with fans tossing out name suggestions like “Crash,” “Aspen,” and “Ranger.” Others simply swooned over the puppy’s sweet face.

While the puppy doesn’t have a name yet, he’s clearly already won over Costner—and thousands of his fans.
A New Chapter After a Tumultuous Year
This heartwarming update comes after a season of change for Costner. In April, he confirmed his departure from Yellowstone, the hit drama that helped reshape his career in recent years. The decision followed creative and scheduling tensions—especially surrounding the show’s split fifth season—and also coincided with the production of Horizon: An American Saga, a western film Costner co-wrote and directed.
A month later, Costner’s personal life made headlines when his wife of 18 years, Christine Baumgartner, filed for divorce. The split was finalized in September. While Baumgartner has reportedly moved on, Costner has kept a low profile—focusing on family, work, and now, a new puppy.

A Gentle Step Forward
While no puppy can erase the emotional weight of the past year, this one might be just what Costner needs: a grounding presence, a source of daily joy, and a reason to slow down.

Some say the right dog always shows up at the right time. And for Kevin Costner, this little Labrador may not just be a pet—but a quiet symbol of a new beginning.

Kevin Costner has always been one of my very favorite actors. He can make any role he plays seem to very real. I especially liked "The Bodyguard" and several others that he has stared in. He will be fine, he is a strong and wonderful man.
