Canadian actress Michelle Morgan, known for her role as Lou Fleming on the CBC series Heartland, has given birth to a healthy baby girl.

The little one, named Mara Carmen, arrived on Friday, April 1st, 2011, weighing in at 7 pounds 3 ounces. While there was initial speculation about a baby naming contest, Morgan has confirmed that Mara Carmen already has her beautiful name.

The proud parents, Morgan and her husband Derek Tisdelle, are doing well and enjoying their time with their newborn daughter. Mara is described as having sandy brown hair and blue eyes, and according to Morgan, she has a healthy appetite that keeps them busy at night.

Fans can expect to see Mara around the set of Heartland as she grows up, as Morgan plans to bring her daughter to work during filming of the next season.

In a message to her fans, Morgan expressed her gratitude for their well wishes and offered a glimpse into the meaning behind Mara Carmen's name. Mara was chosen to honor Morgan's grandmother, while Carmen holds a special meaning due to Morgan's birth date on the feast day of the Virgin Mary del Carmen and an experience during her pregnancy in Portugal.
