Sally Field, 76, Has Never Had Plastic Surgery Despite Decades Fighting Hollywood Ageism

In a world where Hollywood often chases youth, Sally Field stands apart. At 78, she’s doubling down on her decision to live unapologetically, grey hair, real skin, and all—never giving in to cosmetic pressure. Her choice is a beacon of authenticity in an age-obsessed industry.
Sally first captured hearts in the 1960s with roles in TV shows like Gidget and The Flying Nun. Later, she won even more fans through iconic movies like Smokey and the Bandit, Norma Rae, Mrs. Doubtfire, and Forrest Gump. She didn’t just charm viewers—she proved she could take on any role and make it feel real. But beyond her talent on-screen, Sally's also known for standing up against the idea that getting older is something to hide.
Born on November 6, 1946, in Pasadena, California, Sally quickly made her mark in entertainment. She went from being a fresh-faced TV star to a beloved movie actress, gaining fans around the globe.

Sally's career isn’t just about awards (though she’s got plenty—two Oscars, two Golden Globes, three Emmys, and a SAG Lifetime Achievement Award in 2023). She’s also used her voice to advocate for women’s rights, LGBTQ+ equality, and bone health awareness after being diagnosed with osteoporosis.
Happy to Age Naturally
At 78, she's still not budging. Sally has said flat-out that she won’t dye her hair or change her face for anyone. In a recent conversation, she joked about not loving the way her neck looks on camera—but she’d still take wrinkles over losing her identity.
“I’m an old woman; 70 is old… I earned these wrinkles.”
At the 2023 SAG Awards, she walked the red carpet in a simple black dress with natural grey hair and looked stunning—not because she tried to hide her age, but because she didn’t.
Even now, at 78, Sally still refuses to apologize for her gray hair or give in to cosmetic pressures. And when asked about ageism, she said something that hit me:
“There is a sense in society that you should feel ashamed for being old... what a crock that is.”
That comment, made during a 2024 interview, felt like vintage Sally—frank, fearless, and kind of funny too.

In her heartfelt speech, she also said,
“I’m a little white girl with a pug nose born in Pasadena… My fight—as hard as it was—was lightweight compared to some of yours… Acting has always been about those few precious moments when I feel totally, utterly, sometimes dangerously alive.”
Why Sally’s Decision Matters
Hollywood still sends the message that youth equals value—especially for women. But Sally is a reminder that age is not something to fix. She didn’t disappear. She didn’t give in. She just kept being great.

Sally Field is beautiful not because she tries to stay young—but because she stays real.
What do you think about her choice to age naturally and embrace the years?

She is so right not to have plastic surgery. Aging is a part of life and you cannot change the fact that you are growing older or stop it by having plastic surgery. She is stunning and I am proud of her that she is embracing her age at every stage.

Sally Fields has always been beautiful. She still is. I’m very proud she chose to be herself and not fake! We all will grow old no matter who we are, otherwise we die young!
