Susan Boyle Still Lives in Her Childhood Home—Now She Gives Us A Peek Inside After The Renovations

From Overnight Fame to Humble Living

When Susan Boyle auditioned for Britain’s Got Talent in 2009, she was a 47-year-old charity worker living alone with her cat, Pebbles. That night, everything changed.

Her stirring performance of “I Dreamed a Dream” turned her into a global sensation. The video of that audition has since been watched by hundreds of millions. She signed record deals, sold millions of albums, and made millions of dollars. Yet while the world saw her as a star, Susan never let it change who she was at heart.

“I used to be a kind of spectator looking outward at the world,” Susan said. “But now I’m part of that world—and though frightening, I’m going to embrace it.”

Why She Never Left Her Childhood Home

Despite her fame and fortune, Susan never moved to Hollywood or bought a mansion. Instead, she purchased her childhood home in Blackburn, Scotland in 2010—where she had lived since birth with her parents and nine siblings—and made it her own.

“It’s best to be grounded and with your roots. It keeps you grounded and prevents you from saying things maybe you shouldn’t,” she said in an interview with OK! Magazine.

Her decision wasn’t about nostalgia—it was about staying true to herself.

Inside the Home: A Personal Tour

The Piano Room

As you enter, the first thing you see is Susan’s newly added piano room. It's bright, cozy, and deeply personal—even if she admits she’s just started learning.

“That’s a giggle for a start because I can’t even do scales,” she said with a laugh.

The Kitchen Upgrade

She completely redid the kitchen, which she said was previously “hazardous” due to how cramped it was. Now, it's open, modern, and even features a framed photo of her meeting Pope Francis.

The Living Room and Family Touches

Her living room is warm and filled with family photos, animal ornaments, and framed career awards. The decor speaks to her sentimental side and her deep connection to loved ones.

A Life Filled With Memories

Upstairs, she shows the room she once shared with two sisters. She recalls playing records and being a huge fan of The Osmonds. While her siblings moved out and her father passed in the 1990s, Susan stayed behind to care for her mother—who died in 2007.

“Some people seem surprised that I choose to stay in my family home. Why shouldn’t I? I feel Mum is still here... I’ve spent most of my life in this house and I won’t move now. It’s part of my new history.”

Love, Regret, and New Hopes

Susan never married and doesn’t have children, but she’s been open about hoping to find love someday.

“I’ve never had any of my own, that’s my biggest regret. But I love kids—they’re good fun to be with,” she told The Sun.

She’s now considering becoming a foster parent.

“I’ve a lovely house—why not share it?”

The Same Heart in the Same Home

Susan Boyle’s story isn’t just about fame or talent. It’s about staying grounded in a world that tries to pull you away from your beginnings. While other stars build new lives in luxury, Susan chose to renovate the old one that built her.

Susan, you are an inspiration to all ladies. Even though you could afford a mansion you stuck with your childhood home which means a lot to you instead of a massive house with no heart. You have an amazing voice and you are a beautiful person, if you ever fancy meeting up for a coffee, I would love that, not for the money just the company xxxxx
