Brave launches search engine

Brave, the company best known for its browser of the same name, is now launching its own search engine, Brave Search.

Unlike some other search engines, which generally rely on repackaged Google and Bing search results, Brave has built its own search index, which it uses in its search engine. However, some parts of the Brave search engine, such as the image search, use results from Microsoft's Bing search engine.

Brave Search currently does not display ads. However, Brave will later start displaying ads in the search engine for users who do not opt in to the premium version of the search engine. At some point in the future, Brave will also make its own search engine the default search engine in its own browser.
