Mark Harmon's 'NCIS' Character Almost Had a Different Name!

Mark Harmon shares nearly being renamed in NCIS

Mark Harmon, the 72-year-old actor who played Leroy Jethro Gibbs for 19 seasons, recently revealed an interesting tidbit about the name of his character.

Harmon shared that the series creator had almost changed his character's name to something entirely different. Initially, Harmon was drawn to the name "Leroy Jethro Gibbs" and insisted that the character be named as such, even though the creator was initially hesitant.

Harmon has since left the long-running series, but earlier this year, a producer on the show hinted at the possibility of him returning.

In an additional interesting fact, ten big-name actors were considered for the role of Special Agent Gibbs before Harmon was cast.

I was shocked that they wrote him off the show even though he’s probably retired and all these posts or pages of him there’s a lot of imposters out there and everybody should be very careful. I’ve been a fan for him for over 20 years in shock for me so now I just watch on Netflix one through 15 seasons 12 times over par
